Another WordPress update has been made available for download. It seems that every time I get my sites in order, there is another update. Whether it is a plugin or WordPress release. This makes it particularly difficult when trying to maintain a perfect copy of a site for development and testing of plugins, themes, and WordPress updates. It also seems, that nearly every time an upgrade is released, something else breaks. So when I discovered that there is yet another WordPress release to 2.6.2, I wanted to determine if it would break anything. The best way I know how is compare the releases.
When comparing the 2.6.1 release against the 2.6.2 release, as can be seen in the image below, there are 13 changes. Several sites, I have read through, generally refer to only 12 changes, as well as WordPress.org itself. The 13th change is the Akismet plugin. Version 2.6.1 of WordPress has included version 2.1.6 of akismet.php as version 2.6.2 of WordPress has included version 2.1.8 of akismet.php.
You can download the difference, the 13 files here.
