July 14, 2011

windows-7-box-art-2User Account Control was introduced with Microsoft Windows Vista. The intent was to improve secutiy by limiting application software to standard user priveges until an administrator approves an increase or elevation. To open a command prompt with administatrative privledges a few extra key strokes are required.

To launch an elevated command prompt:

  • Press the Windows key (or click on the Start button)
  • Type CMD
  • Press Ctrl+Shift+Enter
